After years of painstaking (!) research, we have chosen Rihiveli as our representative resort in the Maldive Islands. Whilst similarities to our first winter resort, Alagna, may not be immediately obvious, they do exist.

For one, Rihiveli is small. Many islands in the Maldives offer bicycles to get around whereas here you can walk from one side to the other in about 30 seconds. Also, it’s rustic. Built buy the man who coined the phrase “No News, No Shoes”, it is an unpretentious island with large emphasis on natural (Bounty advert-esque) beauty and the Robinson Crusoe theme.

It’s more than comfortable and offers massages and the usual diving, sailing but does not require the formal ‘shirt-at-dinner’ of the more ‘luxurious’ resorts. The chef and his team serve a different themed cuisine each night (French, Italian, Maldivian), with freshly caught fish of the day on the barbecue at every meal.

Finally, and perhaps the jewel in the crown, we are the first to market Rihiveli in the UK. As such, the likelihood is you will be the only British people there.
